Main Crop potato producing knobbly, elongated tubers with pinkish skin, and yellow, waxy textured flesh. Excellent flavour.
Tender perennial usually treated as an annual crop.

Succeeds in most soils but dislikes very wet or heavy clay soils. Prefers a slightly acid rich soil with plenty of organic matter, the tubers can be subject to scab on limy soils or those deficient in humus. Likes a sunny position.

Plant out tubers in mid April for harvesting in August or September.

The top-growth is not frost hardy, though the tubers will tolerate a few degrees of frost.

From tubers. Classic salad potato.

Culinary vegetable. Excellent flavour, good for boiling and in salads

other notes:
Raised in France or Germany about 1850.

All the green parts of the plant, even green parts of exposed tubers, are poisonous, containing a toxic alkaloid called solanine.
